Ron Jeremy, born in Queens, NY on March 12, 1953 to a middle class Jewish family and attended high school with former CIA director, George Tenet. He went on to complete his Bachelor’s in Theatre and a Master’s in Special Education, which led him into a teaching career. When Ron wasn’t teaching special education classes, he was a substitute teacher for regular classes.
After deciding to pursue acting and quit teaching, Ron quickly learned what it was like to be a starving actor in Hollywood and decided to posed for Playgirl magazine. He then pursued other opportunities in the adult film industry in order to support himself.
Contrary to popular belief, Ron did not get the nickname “The Hedgehog” due to weight gain. After a shower on set in Lake Arrowhead, CA, the temperature change made his skin all pink and his hair stick straight out, making him look like a hedgehog.
Porn wasn’t the only thing Ron wanted to dip into. He made his way into Hollywood movies with parts in Bone Chillers, The Boondock Saints, Spun and Poultrygeist to name a few.
A biographical documentary, Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy, was released in 2001, to critical acclaim, and chronicled the life and story of ‘America’s most unlikely sex star’.
Appearances in music videos by Sublime, Kid Rock, Insane Clown Posse and Steel Panther inspired him to release his own rap single called “Freak of the Week”, which peaked at 95 on the Billboard rap charts.
Ron has also lent himself to video games, .com videos, advertised for PETA, released a memoir and in 2005 was invited to address the Oxford Union to tell fascinating stories about his life.
Ron Jeremy is today’s most distinct global adult film star.
